At present, backbone gear manufacturing enterprises and research institutes in China, represented by Shanghai Automotive Gear Factory and Shaanxi Faste Company, have completed the technology introduction and digestion of various products such as automotive gears, motorcycle gears, engineering machinery gear transmission, agricultural machinery gears, industrial gear transmissions, high-speed and heavy-duty gears, special gear transmissions, gear specialized equipment, etc., which has led to leapfrog development of China's gear transmission manufacturing industry in the past decade.

Firstly, the matching of automotive manual transmissions (including heavy, medium, light, and micro), sedan transmissions, motorcycle gears, engineering machinery shift transmissions, and large and medium-sized agricultural machinery transmission systems has been basically based on domestic production, meeting the matching needs of main engine manufacturers, and some gear components or transmissions have been exported. In terms of automotive automatic transmissions, they are still controlled by imported products.
Secondly, in terms of vehicle drive axles, active and passive spiral bevel gears, straight bevel gears, and wheel reducers, most of them can meet the domestic supporting needs. The drive axle and bevel gear industry, represented by Dongfeng Axle, is undergoing integration and restructuring development, and there is hope for rapid development.
Thirdly, in the field of industrial universal transmissions, the entry of a group of foreign-owned enterprises such as SEW has activated the Chinese industrial universal gearbox market. Represented by a large number of private industrial gearbox enterprises in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, they have made rapid progress in product serialization, modularization, quality, and technical level in the past five years, forming fierce competition with international brands. Some of the products produced by Chinese enterprises have reached international standards, and some of them have been exported to Europe and America.
Fourthly, in terms of high-speed and heavy-duty gear transmission manufacturing, China has enterprises represented by Nanjing Gaojing Gear Co., Ltd. (Nanjing High Speed Gearbox Factory), Chongqing Gearbox Factory, Hangzhou Qianjin Gearbox Group, Zhengzhou Machinery Research Institute, Luoyang Zhongzhong Reducer Company, and Shenyang Mining Reducer Company. These enterprises have made significant contributions to the development of China's large-scale complete equipment and shipbuilding industry in the process of introducing technology.
Fifth, in terms of special and specialized gear transmission, such as non circular gears, plastic gears, powder metallurgy gears, small module gears, etc., China has not yet formed a leading enterprise, and the technological potential of the enterprise still needs to be fully realized.
Sixth, in terms of gear specialized equipment, private enterprises have developed rapidly in the past five years, while state-owned enterprises have developed relatively slowly. The progress of equipment reliability indicators in most state-owned gear equipment manufacturing enterprises is relatively slow, resulting in most of the leading precision machining equipment in the gear industry still being mainly imported.
