There are three commonly used measurement methods for milling straight cylindrical gears:

(1) Use a gear vernier caliper to measure the thickness and height of the indexing chord teeth of the gear.
(2) Measure the fixed chord tooth thickness and fixed chord tooth height of the gear using a gear vernier caliper.
(3) Use a micrometer to measure the length of the common normal of the gear.
